Possible question on facial genomics:

1. Since facial structure correlates with personality (e.g. big five, dark triad, "masculinity") would this prove or disprove Chinese face-reading?

2. Can similar research but for bone structure (testosterone exposure) and gait (mental health) be done to examine cross-correlations of genetic fitness?

3. Can attractiveness be quantified and genetically predicted then, since perception of attractiveness has internal consistency?

There's a lot in this comment that I had never heard about (what's Chinese face-reading? Is it better than phrenology?). Do you have any good reference on the facial structure ~ personality correlations? I wonder what's the causal factor here.

For 3, I remember this twin study: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10519-013-9627-5 where they found a 50-70% heritability for facial attractiveness, as rated by a panel of participants. I don't find it completely surprising.

For Chinese Face Reading, it is more physiognomy than phrenology, as it is more shape focused. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_face_reading

I think this poster has some basic diagnostics on personality https://archive.org/details/Face_Reading

Prediction:

1. Positive canthal tilt (angry eyes) correlates with aggressiveness, negative canthal tilt (sad eyes) correlates with emotionality and softness

2. Nose size correlates with ambition, Nose length correlates with intelligence

3. Small forehead correlates with strength and willpower, large forehead correlates with intelligence

4. Receding hairline correlates with wit and creativity

5. Midface size correlates with intelligence, jaw visibility correlates with dominance

Hypothesis:

1. Testosterone exposure and aggression/dominance

2. Verbal Tilt theory with creativity and sensitivity https://emilkirkegaard.dk/en/2020/05/the-verbal-tilt-model/

3. Intelligence and SES as visible on the face
