What is this about?

This blog contains my observations and ideas, with no guarantee of consistency, relevance, or any kind of coherent branding.

Elmer of Malmesbury is obviously not my real name – it’s a pseudonym I borrowed from a flying monk. I am from continental Europe but temporarily live in the East Coast of one of the Americas. Without compromising my anonymity, I can tell you that I work either as a researcher in some natural science, or as a penguin breeder. You decide. My academic h-index is 7 (although I’ll forget to update this) and my Erdős-Bacon number is 9. I have an IQ of 49, according to this online IQ test based on the correlation between reaction time and IQ (I blame my old laptop’s trackpad).

Here is my twitter account.

Why Telescopic Turnip?

My initial plan for this blog was to use telescopic text. Then I realized I was bad with computers so I stuck to hyperlinks. Turnip is because turnips are beautiful and underrated (have you tried to make turnip French fries?).
